Tradition

I decided today that I would start a tradition for myself, my family of 1. One of my favorite things is waking up without an alarm clock, having a calm morning with a bit of quiet and having brunch. I love brunch. Here are a few things I love about it:
1.You can drink as much coffee as you can stomach
2.You can have your eggs any way you like them
3.You can have it alone or share it with others
4.It offers a balanced meal
5.You only have to eat 2 meals that day
6.It can be fancy or simple.
As I was getting some brunch together this morning (today it was a feta omlette, coffee, banana and scone) the thought came to mind, I want to do this every week. Last week I had 8 over for brunch and it was wonderful. Why not every week have brunch even if it is just for myself? The things I love most in life I enjoy just as much when alone as when I am with others. So, as of today I am forming my first tradition. Brunch once a week! I'd love to have any of you join me as a part of this tradition one of these times.

You are Set Free!

As I was praying for a friend with cancer last week this image came to mind and so I created one of my favorite pieces of art. I think it is one of my best because it is a physical picture of the healing that God is doing. I have been on a journey as I have been praying and believing God for his healing. I know that God desires to heal. As I was working on this piece I felt led to give it to my friend. When I did, I felt the love of God rush toward him. It is good to use our gifts for the benefit of the body. The passage that inspires this is Luke 13:15 "...You are set free from you infirmity." I believe it!

Inspired in OKC

One afternoon during a conference I went to in OKC I went to the Oklahoma City Art Museum. It is a great museum, surprising actually. Check it out if you are in the area. There was much to be inspired by. I think the images speak for themself.

Art by Ben Shahn, quote from Rilke.

"One must be able to think back to roads in unknown regions."-Rilke

Here are some other wonderful things that I saw. Chihuly blown glass. It is an amazing art form. When you are looking at it, you feel like you have entered into another world, a playful and magical one.

Suitcase life

I've been living out of a suitcase for it feels like the last month or so. I like living out of a suitcase, it feels really free. I've realized that you don't need much in life. I can live with what I pack. I never find myself wishing I would have brought something extra along, often times I pack more than I need. I wonder why I don't live with a 'suitcase mentality' all the time. I think there is something alluring to me about this type of simplicity. Now that I am back 'home', I'm beginning to think about where I will go next. I want to be here, completely present. I'm asking that God will clearly lead me.
