blog pressure

I've been thinking about the 'blog run' that I sometimes get on, posting several times a week. It's funny because I love going to others blogs and seeing that they have new posts. Yet, I've been feeling 'blog pressure'. There seems to be this pressure to have something quirky, reflective, insightful and exciting to write about on a daily basis. Frankly, sometimes there's just not much to say. Other times there is a lot to say, but I don't want it on my blog. I think we've all had conversations with each other that are like, "Why haven't you posted this week? Everyone is waiting to hear from you." It just takes the fun out of blogging. So, I've now blogged about blogging because I have nothing else to blog about because I'm feeling the blog pressure (self-inflicted in this case).

Me, too. I didn't blog much this week. I didn't have much to say and I was too overwhelmed to say it well anyway. Honestly, it's okay to take a break. (Although, I'll miss your thoughts!) I think blogging is much more fun when it's a spontaneous conversation. Pressure ruins it...

Does that apply to leaving comments on other people's blogs too? Like right now, I think I've typed and retyped several different things to say back. Not one of them sounded entirely witty or insightful...you see, I just typed something else I erased.

All that to say, I always enjoy reading what you have to say -- no matter how long I have to wait!

I've been thinking about blogging. Mainly because my friend Blythe Lane put the idea in my head. But the last thing I need in my life is more pressure. Maybe blogging is a new form of accountability.
"Hello, we haven't heard from you in a while. Does that mean you aren't thinking about anything important? Or does it mean you're too busy?" But I find myself a little hesitant. Even skeptical.
And what if someone actually reads my blog? What then? What if I begin to write to impress rather than engage in an honest discussion? Can someone please explain the blogging phenomenon to me? No pressure.
